GOMBAK, 18 November 2019: The Welfare and Society Bureau of Kulliyyah of Economics and Management Sciences (KENMS) in collaboration with Academic Al-Syakirin organised “Kursus Celik Kewangan Islam” held at Al-Syakirin Mosque on Sunday (17 November).

A total of 125 participants joined in the first series of “Kursus Celik Kewangan Islam.” Generally, most of them were categorised as asnaf. The talk was delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dzuljastri bin Abdul Razak from Kulliyyah Economics and Management Sciences (KENMS).

It was aimed to raise awareness to the public and to provide a deeper understanding of the financial management in handling the usage of money in their daily life towards a better future. It is related to Maqasid Syariah which are the protection of life, religion, intellect, lineage and wealth.

Dr. Dzuljastri stressed that if somebody failed in managing their money it can lead to many problems such as depression, suicide, and robbery. He encouraged the audience to use the Islamic financial system instead of the conventional banking system to avoid interest payment that consists of riba, maysir (gambling) and gharar (uncertainty).

“Trade is just like interest, but Allah has permitted trade and has forbidden interest” (2:275). Thus, preservation of wealth is one of the most important objectives of Syariah. Besides, such encouragement of generating wealth creation should never be done at the state of one’s faith by involving riba and other forbidden activities. For instance, applying loan shark and conventional credit card. Islam places no blessings on such transactions.

The participants showed a positive outcome. From the survey provided to them, the result came out positively as they understood the content that had been delivered in the talk. ***
