IIUM Student Union to receive RM100K funding from Education Ministry

GOMBAK, 24 October 2019: A university is a place where we produce future leaders for betterment of a nation, Minister of Education, Dr. Maszlee Malik said on Wednesday (23 October) in his speech officiating the launching of IIUM Student Union at Wadi Budi in IIUM campus here.

To show his support to this historical revival of a student union, Dr. Maszlee Malik, who was also IIUM’s former President, announced that “RM100, 000 will be allocated to IIUM student union”. 

The funding will help in the development of student union as they will be handling all students’ activities independently. 

Dr. Maszlee advised university students to be well prepared with skills and to widen their knowledge, not just to compete locally but globally as well. 

Meanwhile, President of IIUM Student Union, Ahmad Irham Dollah, said that the student union was proof that university students are capable of carrying out bigger responsibility.

“The student union is a platform where students can express their voice as students’ voice matters,” said Ahmad Irham Dollah in his speech at the launching of the IIUM Student Union.

IIUM Student Union is expected to have its first election in February next year with the new system. ***
