GOMBAK, 29 April 2019 – The Kulliyyah of Engineering (KOE) was crowned as champion for the Inter-Kulliyyah Sports Festival (KUSEF) 2019 on a rainy Sunday (28 April) night at Sayyidina Hamzah Stadium in IIUM campus here.
The coronation came after KOEs football team clinched the gold medal in a match against Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences (KIRKHS), where the former won 6-5 on penalties. The game ended 1-1, with KOE equalising midway through the second half, cancelling out KIRKHSs opener.
KUSEF 2019 saw KOE toppled Kulliyyah of Economics and Management Sciences (KENMS) as the reigning champion, with KIRKHS being a very close first runner up. Both KOE and KIRKHS has shown remarkable feat during this festival and are the deserved top two, which sees the former took the lead by clinching more medals and points than its close rival.
Led by Tuan Faris from KENMS, this years edition saw the return of games such as badminton, as well as the introduction of e-Sports like Mobile Legends and DOTA. Even with that, there was an astute absence of the likes of Chess and Tug of War. This came after the university officials wished for the list of games to be rotated every year.
œThis years KUSEF has seen a new element of dominance by various teams and that is good, since the competitiveness is what makes a sports festival meaningful and sweet, said one of the nights attendees.
KUSEF is an annual sports festival held in March or April every year to pitch Kulliyyahs of IIUM together under the banner of unity via sports.
It is an initiative by students to instil solidarity and togetherness through the means that sees everyone come together regardless of backgrounds. All due congratulations to KOE for their deservedly-won title. ***
