GOMBAK, 18 April 2019: A resume is an individual personal advertisement that can help a person win an interview, therefore, it is very important for it to be properly written and carries the most meaningful content, a LinkedIn workshop was told recently.

According to senior general manager, Talent and Development Founding Partners from Top Voices Malaysia, Mr. Rayyan Irwan, a good resume should attract the attention of recruiters or Human Resources department (HRD) of an organisation.

He stressed, “HRD tends to spend a very short time on your resume, so be sure to write the most meaningful content.”

“Work experience is the most important part of the resume and should be described in detail to highlight the achievements of the past,” he said.

He suggested that each entry begins with a strong verb, such as “management”, “organization”, etc., avoid “help”, “support” and other weak words.

“In addition, no lie, keep honesty and highlight personal contribution,” he emphasised.

He also mentioned that graduates with lack of work experience can write on educational background and postpone writing on work experience. He provided his resume as a template.

The workshop was organised by the Department of Psychology (PSYC) and it was held at Research Management Centre. ***
