GOMBAK, 22 March 2019 – IIUM mobile application and the “No Smoking” campaign were launched by IIUM Rector, Prof. Tan Sri Dzulkifli Abdul Razak, earlier today during Al-Liqa Al-Jamaie at the Main Hall of IIUM Cultural Centre (ICC).

With the launching of the mobile application, IIUM community will be able to access to different IIUM media platforms such as IIUMToday, IIUM.fm, and IIUMtv, as easy as a few clicks away on their mobile phone. The application is available for both Android and Apple users.

Apart from that, the ceremony also witnessed the launching of the “No Smoking” campaign in an effort to promote a healthy lifestyle among the IIUM community and a smoking-free environment in the campus.

“We are approaching the fasting month of Ramadan. If we can refrain ourselves from smoking for eight hours, we should continue and hopefully will stop smoking altogether,” Tan Sri Dzulkifli said.

Tan Sri Dzulkifli further added that the campaign is to offer help to smokers to quit smoking habit besides upholding the Maqasid Shariah. The “No Smoking” campaign was enlivened by a gimmick from the Office of Security Management (OSeM) which saw the Rector squashing a giant cigarette.

The ceremony was attended by hundreds of IIUM staff and students who gathered at the ICC in conjunction with the officiating of the IIUM Road Map 2019-2020 by the Rector.***
