GOMBAK, 11 November 2018: The Director of IIUM’s Disability Services Unit, Prof. Ruzita Mohd Amin praised the effort by Communication Internship class, who called themselves COMMBest, in making the concert on Rhythm of Hope happened.

“COMMBest, the organiser, did a great job displaying the video on brother Adam climbing Mount Everest. It really touched my heart. Also there was this poem about Life recited by Fiena (a person with eye impairment). These made me feel really close with this event and the participants, especially. I am flattered and overwhelmed at the same time,” said Prof. Ruzita when met right after the event ended.

“I feel proud of you guys, although it is a part of the requirements to graduate, since it is an effort by an internship class, but you do it very well, sacrificing your strength and did fundraising. I know the money collected will be given to IIUM Ummi Ibnu Maktum Club. It is such a noble move to do that, Alhamdulillah,” she said excitedly.

Earlier, Prof. Ruzita told IIUMToday, “I hope there will be many programmes like this in the future to highlight and to create awareness that the disabled people can also succeed in life just like normal human beings.”

COMMBest’s programme manager, Muhammad Taufiq bin Mat Nasir, 23, commented: “Alhamdulillah the event went well according to the flow as planned. I am really happy that my team was very cooperative since we actually lacked manpower to manage the programme. But, we tried our best to do it, and we went all out to make this event a success.”

“Indeed in organising this programme we got to learn so many things by going through so many experiences, both sweet and bitter, to make this event happened. Only God knows how hard the process we had to go through – less sleep, less rest, less eating too… everything is less. Alhamdulillah, our team members understood our respective tasks and we were willing to sacrifice a lot for this charity programme.”

“Without support and team work, this might not happen. I am glad having them in my team. Last but not least, we are done with our project and this team will be missed. Not to forget our supervisor, Dr. Harmi Ta’azim, who had given us the moral support and trust to handle this event. Without his advice and help, this event cannot be realised,” he added.

The charity concert “Rhythm of Hope” which started at 8 p.m. and ended at around 11.30 p.m. received amazing support from the audiences. ***
