By Adhura Husna

The crunch time has finally begun. Tuition fees, text books, the piles of photocopied notes, the exams and the endless supply of coffee for the night owls. Money is involved in all of these. Some made loans from the government, some are financed by their parents, but all in all, money is just not a luxury everyone has.

However, we ought to ask ourselves if we want to stay in this position for long. Interested to know more on ways to generate income that are flexible to your time, as a student and become successful, debt-free graduates? Here’s the list.

1. Transporter

Most of the students I know who owns a car does transporter service. These students will drive you to where you want to go. They are not registered under any company like Grab, Uber or MyCar, most of the time they have their own group to handle orders. Ads are pasted around the campus or sometimes they collect phone numbers from other transporters and other WhatsApp group or telegrams. However, this service is often limited to students’ class schedule.

2. Car rental

If you have got no time to drive someone around, the second option is to rent your vehicle to the students who need it. Usually rental rates are RM30 per hour with a minimum rental period of three hours.

3. Runner

True, not all students have cars and if that is the case, other vehicles like motorcycles are perfect for this type of business! This third service is perfect for students who like shopping or who just need a ride out of campus. Runner works like a personal shopper to buy the items a customer or a student wants like KFC, and so on.

4. Notes

So, you are a diligent and creative person? You can start a small business selling notes of a subject, offer printing services for your friends who are less crafty and so on. Not only is it profitable, but it also forces you to learn the subject as well!

5. Part-time work

If you have a lot of free time, you can work part-time around the campus or even outside campus. Some students work as cashiers at shops, delivery boy for restaurant branches and many more!
