i-Taajir Cycle 2 offers funds up to RM10,000

SETAPAK, 14 October 2018: The launching of i-Taajir Entrepreneurship Mentoring Programme Cycle 2 took place yesterday (13 October) at Projek Perumahan Rakyat (PPR), Kampung Baru Air Panas in Kuala Lumpur, officiated by the Deputy Rector of IIUM, Prof. Dr. Nor Faridah bt Abdul Manaf.

Following the success of 12 participants from its first cycle, the Centre of Islamic Economics (CIE), supported by CIMB Islamic (CIMBi), this time has chosen the community of PPR Kampung Baru Air Panas to be their next prospects for this entrepreneurship mentoring programme.

“With the funds by CIMBi and our academic theory we can help these people to guide them to a better living,” said the Dean of Kulliyyah of Economics and Management Sciences (KENMS), Prof. Dr. Hasanuddin Abdul Manaf in his speech. This programme, he added, should be told to everyone because it is not easy to get this kind of opportunity.

According to Director of CIE, Prof. Mohammad Aslam Haneef, this is the first PPR to be chosen so he hoped this programme could help the PPR community of Kampung Baru Air Panas to be an example to other PPR community.

Meanwhile, Prof. Faridah said she would like to see this programme continue in the future because it is very innovative and beneficial to the society. She also suggested that the Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences (KIRKHS) could collaborate with KENMS in providing religious classes for these people as, she said, it is also a requirement to build a better society.

After the launching ceremony, the 12 participants from Kampung Sungai Kertas and IIUM were honoured for their proposal in the Cycle 1. The participants were:

Also present at the officiating ceremony was the CEO of CIMBi, Rafa Haneef, who was also an IIUM alumni. He congratulated the participants for their amazing proposals, hoping for more participants for Cycle 2.

The ceremony ended with a motivation session by the founder of Muslimah4u, Ummu Habibah binti Abd Rahman and Mohmad Safwan b. Mohd Nawi, an IIUM student from Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences (KIRKHS), who owned mineral water trading company in the university.

i-Taajir Cycle 2 offers workshop training, individual guidance, spiritual filling, as well as funds up to RM10,000 to the participants.

A training session will be held from 20 until 21 October to be conducted in IIUM by KENMS students to assist the participants in preparing their business proposal which will be presented to the panel on 17 November. ***
