GOMBAK, 16 September 2018 – An event called “Re:ACTION Youth Engaged, Public Debate Series” will be held on 18 September at IIUM Cultural Centre (ICC), scheduled to start from 8.OO p.m.
Organised by IIUM World Debate and Orator Centre (IWON) in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth an Sports (KBS), this debate will feature the Minister of Youth and Sports, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, and the new Asian Debate Champion, Syarif Fakri.
They will debate on the motion “Repealing The Anti-Fake News Act is A Mistake”.
As mentioned by Syed Saddiq in his twitter post, “I always believe in the voice of the youth and one way for their voice to be heard is through debate, hence, with cooperation of Ministry of Sports and Youth through Rakan Muda and IIUM a public debate series will be organised under the name of Re:Action Youth Engaged.”
He also stated that he wanted to see a university in Malaysia become the hub of debate and as a result, it can be a platform to increase critical thinking skills and empowerment of English language among youth.
Director of Re:ACTION Youth Engaged, Amirun  Hamman B. Azam is inviting all youth to attend this debate.
“It is time for youth to participate in discussion on pertinent issues. As future leaders, we should be more than just as students who read textbooks, sit down in lectures, play games, sit for exam, or just be audience. We should be more involved in shaping the country. Our voice is the voice of future Malaysia,” Amirun Hamman said.
