GOMBAK, 11 July 2018: The Kulliyyah of Medicine (KOM) is presenting the Audiology and ENT Mobile Clinic unit at Banquet Hall, ICC, in IIUM campus, in conjunction with Quality Day 2018.

An exhibition of selected services by all Kulliyyah is held from 10 to 12 July (9.00 a.m to 4.00 p.m) and the KOM is presenting their Quality service for IIUM community together with other Kulliyyah.

Science Officer from the Department of Psychiatry KOM, Aidil Fadzrul, said, “We have Audiology and ENT- (Ear, Nose and Throat) Mobile Clinic for hearing test, Orthopedic division, Baby CPR training for Mothers to learn how to handle any unwanted breathing problem for their babies, and patients and public empowerment online assessment for Depression, Anxiety and Stress through Depression Anxiety and Stress Scales (DASS) with mental specialists to screen mental health.”

“We test the hearing scale to measure the level of hearing and check whether it is normal or not and this is for the development of IIUM Medical Centre to serve the community,” Aidil Faszrul added.

“This Mobile Clinic has the diagnostic soundproof room for hearing screening even in the factory or in the village of Orang Asli. Usually, we do hearing screening community service and hearing conservation programme for factories. That is why we need a quiet room for pure tone audiometry,” said Medical Laboratory Technologist, Mohd Ariff Hazami Elliazir, from Audiology Unit, Department of ORL-HNS, KOM.

Meanwhile, this service is from the Audiology Unit, KOM. The Audiology Mobile Clinic was launched by the Department of Otorhinolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery (ORL_HNS), which was previously named Department of ENT- Ear Nose and Throat. This service provided by IIUM is the only one among other universities around Malaysia and it is actively serving 11 years since its inauguration in 2007.

“Although there were a few staff coming here (in Gombak) we were having an interactive busy day since yesterday, and when we opened our booth, people started to visit us and use the services. We are hoping for an enjoyable Quality Day, ” Aidil Faszrul shared.

Every year IIUM celebrates its Quality Day. This year it will be held on Thursday (12 July) at IIUM Cultural Centre (ICC) where the university will acknowledge and recognise the departments (academic and non-academic) and staff who have contributed quality work to the university. ***
