Talk raises awareness on ‘fitnah’

GOMBAK, 18 May 2018: A talk session titled “Women and Fitnah” to raise awareness on fitnah among university community was conducted recently (26 April) in campus here.

Organised by Postgraduate Students Society (PGSS), the event was held in Mini Auditorium attended by some 104 people as well as the Dean of Centre for Postgraduate Studies (CPS), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahsan Ghani Muthalib.  It was open to all men and women in IIUM.

Head of sister bureau of PGSS, Sharifah Hadijah Syed Hussin, said the aim of this talk was to encourage awareness between women and fitnah.

“A woman is a beautiful creation by Allah, but sometimes if women are too pretty it can cause temptations to the men, so it is important to understand so that men and women know their responsibility as human beings,” she said.

The talk was delivered by the Deputy Director of SHAS Mosque (specialising in Qur’an and Sunnah), Asst. Prof. Dr. Raudlotul Firdaus Fatah Yasin.

She explained in detail about the rights and responsibilities of women, women and justice, women and fitnah and how to overcome the fitnah.

“Keeping away from any environment that will corrupt one’s religious commitment and morals, strengthening faith by doing obligatory acts of obedience and refraining from that which is forbidden would protect you from fitnah,” she said.

She added, “We must always remember to do supplication (du’a) because it keeps us away from bad company as well as we should learn Islamic knowledge and consult trustworthy scholars.”

The two-hour talk by Dr. Raudatul Firdaus gave students the extra knowledge on women and fitnah. ***
