GOMBAK, 13 March 2018: IIUM Gombak campus was not listed in the six affected water disruption areas around Selangor and Kuala Lumpur recently (6 to 9 March), according to a statement released by Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn. Bhd. (SYABAS).
The areas affected were Petaling, Klang and Shah Alam, Gombak, Kuala Lumpur, Hulu Selangor and Kuala Langat.
Nurul Atikah Che Anawa of Students’ Representative Council (SRC) Welfare Secretariat told IIUMToday that IIUM was blessed with no water interruption even though the areas affected were really close with IIUM campus such as Ukay Perdana, Melawati and Ampang.
“Usually during such situation, Daya Bersih would be notified about this matter and it would take contingency measures by filling the water container,” Atikah explained.
She added, “SRC will play its role to remind IIUM community to make contingency plan depending on the situation.”
However, several Mahallah were facing with water problem due to the leakage of pipe currently and it took some time for the repairment process.
“We have referred this issue to Residential and Services Department (RSD) and it will be clarified soon”, said Amirul Zahidin Sapuan, Co-chairperson Welfare Secretariat SRC.
Previously in their press statement, SYABAS gave a notification of water gradual cut in Selangor because of critical repair works of Syarikat Pengeluaran Air Selangor Sdn. Bhd. (SPLASH) water plant which is a concessionaire and supplier of treated water to SYABAS.***
