GOMBAK, 5 December 2017: Two teams from Kulliyyah of Islamic and Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences (KIRKHS) and one team from Kulliyyah of Engineering (KOE) from IIUM have been selected as the Top 10 finalists for the Eco biz Dream Project 2.
This project was organised by Alliance Bank Malaysia Bhd with the partnership of Leadernomics, Green Tech Malaysia, EcoKnights and Centre for Environment, Technology and Development Malaysia to encourage and nurture an environmental preservation culture among university students.

Before 8 November 2017, students from 22 local universities have submitted a practical business proposition that will help address environmental concerns. However, only 10 were selected as the finalists to present their ideas during the Final Pitch Out.
After having been selected, the top 10 finalists went through two days, one night development camp. According to Alliance Bank’s press release article, the camp acted as the coaching and mentoring stage, where they were guided by leading entrepreneurs and environmentalists. The other finalists include National University of Malaysia (UKM), University of Malaya, University Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), Xiamen University Malaysia Campus, KDU University College, and Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI).
According to a communication student from Lucky Team, Nadhirah Jasmi, the camp was basically to prepare them for the Final Pitch Out today (5 December). It taught them on how and what to present efficiently.
“We did not expect we will be listed as finalist because we began this project as only for the course assignment purpose,” Nadhirah Said.
The top 10 finalists will be presenting their projects during Final Pitch Out today at Pacific Regency, Kuala Lumpur, and stand a chance to win prizes totaling RM20,000.
The leader of Eco Paddy 4.0 team from department of mechanical engineering, Izzat Mokhtar mentioned that winning is not their primary objective, their hope is just that their project on paddy plant system can solve problems among the farmers.
Eco paddy 4.0 which have been working on their project separately over a year, is the only group that comprised engineering students.
“We’re the only engineering students among the finalists which have no basic knowledge of business and entrepreneurship,” Izzat added.***
