GOMBAK, 4 December 2017: The Department of Communication plans to organise ‘Communication Week’ annually during every first semester of the academic year, according to its head, Dr. Aini Maznina Abd Manaf.

She made the statement in her welcoming remarks at the opening ceremony of Communication Week that is being held from 4 until 8 December. The event is more focused towards showcasing academic activities, especially among the undergraduates.

“Communication Week is important in giving the exposure on students’ activities outside of the classroom. It will enable the students to exhibit their products and contribution, as well as to share the knowledge and skills earned from class with other students,” Dr. Aini Maznina said.

Among the objectives of Communication Week are to promote creativity and innovation among students, and to provide a platform to exchange knowledge and experience across different specialisations under the Department of Communication.

Various activities are going to be held this week, including students’ presentations and exhibitions, cosmetic bazaar, food sales, and many more.

Held at HS Square, Communication Week was organised by the Communication Students Association (COSA), in collaboration with IIUMToday, IIUM.fm, the Institute of Public Relations Malaysia-IIUM Chapter (IPRMSA), and Comm TV.

The event was first organised in May 2013 under the leadership of Dr. Zeti Azreen Ahmad, who was the Head of Department at the time. Previously, it was known as “Communication Products Showcase”. In May 2017, “Communication Showcase” was held under the supervision of Communication lecturers Dr. Harmi Taazim Mohamad and Nur Nadia Abdul Mubin.***
