GOMBAK, 15 November 2017: “Achieving success together” – that’s how both husband and wife from the Kulliyyah of Information and Communication Technology did it when they graduated as best students at the 33rd IIUM Convocation recently.

Zaim Muzhaffar bin Ramlan was honoured with Best Student (Overall) while his wife, Syakiratul Azimah Binti Azmi, was awarded Best Student in (Academic). They graduated with Bachelor of Information and Communication Technology.

First time they met was during ICT Raya gathering at Centre for Foundation Studies IIUM, which marked the beginning of their relationship. In determining to excel in their studies, both of them supported each other as Syakiratul was good in mathematics while Zaim was better off in programming.

In improving their understanding of the subject they also shared knowledge with their classmates by doing study group to help each other in laying out the foundation for achieving success.

“I believe if we share and teach other people about something, we will have a stronger understanding of the knowledge imparted. Above all, it takes curiosity, commitment, and real hard work to fully excel in what one is pursuing,” said Syakiratul.

Married in April this year, both are now working as programmers of Web, Mobile App, and Bot projects.

The couple was among 1,958 graduands who received their scrolls at the fifth session of the IIUM’s Convocation, from Member of IIUM Board of Governors, Dato’ Sri Syed Hussain Abd Kadir at the Main Hall of IIUM Cultural Centre.

The three-day convocation ceremony which ended on Monday (13 November) witnessed a total of 5,165 graduands receiving their degrees.***
