Some of the readers might not know where all of these quotes above come from and whose words are those. However, they are not for those comic book readers and geeks. All of the quotes above are among the significant ones coming from the amazing comic books. They are spoken by a superhero. Nowadays, a superhero (sometimes rendered super-hero or super hero) is a type of costumed heroic character who possesses supernatural or superhuman powers and dedicating his or her life to fighting crime, protecting the public, and usually battling super-villains.
Superheroes’ lives have always been a juggling of various combination of tasks. Clark Kent is a Superman in between of being a farm boy growing up in Smallville and a reporter at Daily Planet. His Kryptonian cousin, Kara Danvers is a Supergirl in between becoming a journalist at CatCo Media. Besides that, Spiderman, Peter Parker in every of his heroic acts managed to take a snap of photography of his heroic acts as his work pieces. These examples show that every superhero is juggling his or her life with various types of work. It is a job of a lecturer, a teacher and a nurturer. They master the act of being a superhero.
A teacher or a lecturer is simply a Superman and a Wonder Woman. They have this different side of lives they need to live and they live it successfully. Of course, there will be struggles as life will always be an uphill battle. For a superhero, there might be General Zodd, Joker, or an agent from Hive get in their way by making it hard for the superhero to pass through but at the end of the day, all lecturers will pass through to get to the other side.
The first quote comes from Martian Manhunter. A sole survivor from Mars, a green martian survivor from the massacre in Mars. He said that the roles as a superhero are that to make sure the future is something worthy. They tend to make the world a better place by keeping battling every villain and making sure their plan fails. That is the essentials of the roles for lecturers to do, they are making sure the future is something great by teaching their students all the right things and reminding them of the wrong things. All of their deeds and efforts are for the future as they are in-charge in moulding the future.
Besides that, the second quote is one of the famous quotes in the superhero universe whether it is from Marvel or DC Comics. “With great power, comes great responsibility,” Ben Parker, which is Spiderman or Peter Parker’s uncle. It may not came from a superhero but Ben Parker is one of the important character in Marvel universe. A power of being a lecturer is massive. Nowadays, they do not only focused on teaching in classes as they were given task in the administrative tasks to do such as in-charge of being a coordinator in any society, and doing research while still focusing in teaching is a solid hard work. Not only that they have countless of tasks, they also managed to get a perfect balance in their work which is amazing. It is something that even superhero could not achieve to a perfection.
Lastly, the last quote is coming from the Scarlet Speedster, The Flash or Barry Allen. Superhero is a symbol of hope. Not only that, they also represent a symbol of solace. Whenever a disaster happens, the people will look up for their superhero and feel that everything will be okay. That is also what lecturer is standing for, to be a symbol of hope and solace for their students. To be someone that their students can look up to and turn to for any doubt whether in the academic, career or even life. It goes with the famous saying, “the mediocre teacher tells, the good teacher explains, the superior teacher demonstrates, the great teacher inspires.”
The culture of appreciating lecturers should be something that is consistent and not just a seasonal thing or a day to celebrate.
