SHAH ALAM, 18 April 2017: Â In an effort to foster friendship with other religious faiths and help them learn and experience about world religions, members of IIUM’s Quranic Youth Club visited the Samadhi Vihara Buddhist Temple here Sunday (16 April) morning.
It is not a familiar sight for Muslims to be at this place but for the sake of knowledge they made it possible for them to come together.
All the 44 selected members were given an opportunity to experience for themselves and observe the morning service led by the monk. They also listened to talks and explored the Temple grounds.
The president of QYC, IIUM, Ibrahim Adham, said they started organising this kind of activities and events since 2015. They had already been to the church and gurdwara.
œIn order to create a better understanding of various faiths and traditions, we need to mingle with them. As part of the activity, a visit to places of worship is imperative, he added.
Following the talks, the students took part in a question and answer session with the monk. They were free to ask anything related to Buddhas teaching.
Programme manager, Aishah Hadi said: œI am very thankful to the committee members and all the members who joined us today. It shows the success of our programme and I hope this programme will be held continuously.
The programme ended at 2.00 p.m. ***
