‘Beauty and the Beast’, a planned normalisation worldwide

By Wan Shakrawi

Walt Disneys newest film entitled Beauty and the Beast will finally be released in Malaysia on 30 March after being postponed from its original screening date on 16 March. The films director, Bill Condon has verified that a ˜gay moment is indeed present in the film, portrayed by one of the characters, Le Fou who is a gay.

One important point from this box office film being highlighted and perceived that it may change the paradigm of the society about LBGT (Lesbianism, Bisexual, Gay and Transgender) is the process of planned normalisation in creating the perception that people who are involved in the deviated culture of LGBT is considered normal.

Whether we notice it or not, the ˜gay moment actually contains a hidden message inviting the society to view it as something that comes from the nature of human beings. Therefore, LGBT is considered normal.

From the eyes of Walt Disney, it is easy for them to carry out this planned normalisation as they are a gigantic film company that has been well-established for years and have a great influence towards the film industry around the world. Their efforts in spreading the deviated culture of LGBT to the society is obvious and as a result, might create a long term impact towards the future generations. The consequence that might occur due to this planned normalisation is desensitisation of the society towards the deviated culture of LGBT after repeated exposure to it.

The destruction of the people of Sadum as a result of their deviated actions is enough to be an example for all Muslims.

œSo when Our (Allah) command came, We made the highest part [of the city]
its lowest and rained upon them stones of layered hard clay, [which were] marked
from your Lord, and Allahs punishment is not from the wrongdoers [very] far.

                                                                                                                       (Surah Hud: 82-83)

While there are callings for human beings to come back to the right path being made, there will always be the presence of another set of people trying to invite us to look at LGBT from the positive side of view.

According to the words of Dr. Ahmad Farami, it is not surprised that there will be people arguing about how we need to be ˜open-minded or ˜when will Malaysia be able to move forward when the ˜gay moment in Beauty and the Beast is being opposed. This is among the characteristics of a defeatist when the West is being made as a role model, belief and inspiration in terms of culture, philosophy, practice and civilisation.

CNN Russia has also taken measures and urgently requests that Beauty and the Beast is banned from being released.

I would like to take this opportunity to invite the whole IIUM community to be aware and think about our future generations. We need to boycott this kind of film.***
