GOMBAK, 17 March 2017: The Institute of Public Relations Malaysia Students’ Association (IPRMSA) – IIUM Chapter considers its three-day membership drive campaign from 13 until 16 March a success when the association managed to create greater awareness about the club among the students which had drawn new members to join, according to its President, Lailatul Fitriyah Mat Sani.

The campaign that started from 9.00 a.m and lasted until 5.00 p.m following the opening of a booth at HS Square, had drawn 121 new members, not only from the Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences (KIRKHS), but also from other Kulliyyah like AIKOL, Engineering, Economic and Management Sciences, and KICT.

Beginning with a modest membership of 40, following the membership drive, the total membership of the club now stands at 161, and according to Lailai “this is indeed a success”.

“The main objective of this campaign is to introduce students to the professional world of communication in particular public relations. We want more students from other Kulliyyah or Departments to gain exposure to public relations and to engage them into participating in our activities that involve industry players,” Laila told IIUMToday.

“It would certainly benefit them in enhancing their confidence through organising events, engaging in public speaking and improving soft skills, which would be an advantage to them when they join the industry later,” Laila added.

IPRMSA-IIUM Chapter is a student organisation that provides students with the opportunity to gain exposure to public relations profession and to engage in public relations activities.
