GOMBAK, 14 November 2016: Alumni, families, professors and students from Pakistan gathered here at the Banquet Hall, International Islamic University Malaysia recently for the establishment of the alumni chapter of Pakistan.

The programme, organised by the Alumni and Global Networking Division, was attended by the Deputy Rector of Internationalisation (Industry and Community Relations), Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Berghout and Director of Alumni and Global Networking Division, Professor Dr. Wahabuddin Ra’ees.

IIUM students, once graduated, will go back to their country to achieve their goals and dreams. Thus, according to Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Berghout, establishing a chapter is meant to build relations with the alumni so that they can share with the university how they serve the ummah there in their home country.

“That’s the role of the alumni chapter, it is to hear about their success stories; how they make a difference in their own country in the name of Islam and as representatives of the IIUM model that integrates Islam in all aspects of knowledge,” he added.

Pakistan is the 32nd IIUM alumni chapter launched by the Alumni and Global Networking Division. A total of 25 Pakistani students graduated in the recent 32nd IIUM Convocation and as of now, there are around 200 Pakistani alumni of IIUM.

Dr. Zeeshan Shahid, the current protem committee president of the alumni chapter of Pakistan said,“This is the chance to make our surroundings better by serving with our expertise to make this world a better place to live and improve the Muslim ummah.”***
