GOMBAK, 8 November 2016 – Quran’s Story Night featuring Muhammad Mahad Qamar was successfully held on 3 November  by Al-Aqsa Friends Society at Econs LT 2 IIUM here which was attended by 90 participants.
“This programme, conducted by Mahad Qamar, brings us with story telling from the Quran, types, and benefits of the stories inside it. He also shared with us the lessons and the reason why Allah put such stories in his Holy Quran for us as we read Quran every day,” said Programme Manager, Habibullah Ghafoori, 24.
Mahad Qamar, from the United States of America, is a final year student in IIUM and has graduated from Nouman Ali Khan Al-baiyena School. The programme started on 8:20 p.m with recitation of Quran followed by a slot by the respective speaker, and a nasheed performance by A.N.W.A.R with two songs.
This was later followed by the second session with a talk by the speaker and ended with quizzes and Q & A session.
One of the tips shared by Mahad Qamar in his talk was for people to read the Quran every day, by setting an alarm at a time that they feel comfortable to read Quran, such as during lunch time, and trying to read five verses a day. And after they have mastered it, they can go on and try to read more verses in a day and “it is better to memorise the verses as well”.
“I do hope a programme like this will benefit participants with the importance of learning and understanding the stories in the Quran because the Quran is a guidance from Allah our God. I also hope that all of us can apply what we learn from it in our daily life to be a good Muslim,” he added.
There are many programmes to be conducted by Al-Aqsa Friends Society and the nearest is a weekly programme called Quran and Youth on this upcoming Sunday Night. They also have Risalah al-Nur and marriage programmes which have ben scheduled in the future.
