Grand ‘Silat Cekak Hanafi’ demonstrations 2016 a success

GOMBAK, 17 October 2016: It was a success for the Silat Cekak Hanafi IIUM Gombak following the demonstrations of grand Silat Cekak Hanafi 2016 yesterday.

The event took place at Sayyidina Hamzah Stadium involving 210 demonstrators which was officiated by Ahmad Mufdi Lutfi Bin Jamaludin, representing Head of Sports and Development Centre, Roestam Effendi Sijar.

All the demonstrators gave a remarkable performance as can be seen from the outstanding ovation received from the audience.

Participants were from clubs representing IIUM Kuantan campus, IIUM CFS Petaling Jaya, KUPTMKL, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Universiti Malaya, Akademi Silat Cekak Hanafi, SMK Taman Kosas and SMK Tasek Permai.

Several of Cekak Hanafi performances were very well presented and applauded by the crowd. The demonstrators were energetic. They took only one and half day to practise together for the night demonstration due to time constraint. There was real good cooperation between the participants and the management team.

The Malam Pendekar was actually held to celebrate the 21st anniversary of the establishment of Silat Hanafi in IIUM Gombak campus. The launching of 21 of Silat Hanafi was successfully undertaken on 30 January this year.

With the theme “Warisan Melayu Nusantara“, the ceremony was graced by performances of poem declamation from Muhammad Hanif Bin Nong Check entitled “Bangsa Yang Hilang” and there was also the Berbalas Pantun performance from the winner of inter-Mahallah Pantun Championship, Faznurqizam bin Zaidan and Firdaus bin Yusni.

The demonstration was enhanced further by the presentation of the 21 gerakan asas Silat Cekak Ustaz Hanafi (21’s silat cekak Hanafi basic movements), followed with cohesive Cekak Hanafi cheers by all demonstrators.

The closing ceremony was graced with the presentation of prizes for winners of futsal competition, with Lilitan Merah team emerged champion, Redline as the first runner-up, and Dream team as the second runner-up. ***
