Paralympics Rio 2016: 2 Gold medals and 1 world record for Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, 12 September 2016: Malaysian contingent at Paralympics Games Rio 2016 made history after securing two gold medals on the third day of the games.

The first ever gold medal for Malaysia was secured by Mohamad Ridzuan Mohamad Puzi in 100 meters category T36 (celebral palsy) after clocking 12.07 seconds and breaking the Paralympics records. The silver and bronze for this event were secured by China and Brazil respectively.

On the same day, Malaysia added another glory after Muhammad Ziyad Zolkefli secured the second gold medal for our country in shot putt F20 (intellectual disability) after breaking the world record with 16.84 meters on his fifth attempt.

After the third day of Paralympic, Malaysia stands on rank 22 at medal tally with two golds.

The Paralympic Games started on 7 September and will end on 18 September. All Malaysians can watch the Paralympic games via streaming on You Tube channel and give their support to the team.***
