Evening Souq: A chance for students to be entrepreneurs

GOMBAK, 14 March 2016: Students have a chance to become entrepreneurs by participating in the Evening Souq held at Convest Hill from 5.00p.m to 10.00p.m on Friday.

It is organised by Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC) in collaboration with Federal Agricultural and Marketing Authority (FAMA), National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS), and MyAgrosis IIUM.

The Evening Souq helped to enhance students’ entrepreneurship skills by giving them the platform to do business and to gain experience on how to manage a business. Outsiders also can benefit from this events as it only costs them RM10 to secure a place.

Nik Sabariah from EDC said: “Evening Souq will be organised twice a month and we provide tents for students for free to do business. Students are welcomed to apply for the place provided by EDC.”

Farisha Emilia, one of IIUM students who participated in the Evening Souq said, “It is a good initiative by EDC by giving a platform to students for free and the sale is good.” Together with her friends, Farisha sells clothes with an affordable price.

One of the customers, Nurafida said, “Evening Souq should be a continuous event as it is a good event. We are also able to support our friends who are selling things here too.”

Local produce such as fruits, vegetables, groceries and students’ products are available at Evening Souq.

The next Evening Souq is scheduled to be held from 1 and 15 April 2016.***
