GOMBAK, 2 March 2016: More than 120 performers assisted by some 100 committee members of CiTRA Open Day 3.0 (COD 3.0) worked very hard for their grand concert held at the Culture Activity Centre (CAC) recently which was also attended by IIUM Rector, Prof. Dato’ Sri Dr. Zaleha Kamarudin recently.

“This grand concert has its own theme, that is, manifestation of Islamic culture and performing arts. We synchronise the manifestation of western music culture with east culture, that is Islamic music performance, so that it will bring another dimension for this concert,” said the event’s Programme Manager, Ahmad Syafiq Fahmi Samsudin, 21.

He explained that this grand concert is different from the concert held before as it has the diffusion of both western and Islamic culture in the performances and this has brought a meaning that Islam does not forbid its believers to have entertainment, but it must be manifested by following the Islamic entertainment guideline.

“For the two-day event which started on 24 February 2016, we have art market, vendors and mini performance by 11 clubs under CITRA as three other international clubs cannot participate due to some other problems but still we managed to get almost every IIUM student to come and support our programmes,” he added.

The clubs which participated in this grand concert were IIUM Acoustic Band, Gamelan Club, Caklempong Club, Percussion Club, Nasyeed Club, Angklung Club, Theatre Club, Poetry Club, Film & Creative Production Club, Dikir Barat Sutrapawana and also Nafastari Club.

As Programme Manager, Shafiq also explained that the event was organised with the objective to introduce every club under CiTRA to IIUM students for them to know more about the club activities as well as to boost the confidence of all the performers to contribute towards success of this concert.

He expressed the hope that such event would give positive impact and bring unforgettable memories to all.***
