A frightening experience, says victim

GOMBAK, 9 February 2016: A man was reported to have exposed himself to a female student at the Human Sciences building around 10.30 p.m last night.

The third year female student who has just finished attending her society’s meeting at that time planned to go back to her hostel in Mahallah Hafsah.

“As I was walking alone towards the staircase near HS TR1 classroom, I overheard some footsteps. As I looked back, I saw him with the pants off and was holding ‘it’ and staring at me,” said the victim who preferred to remain anonymous.

The victim was traumatised with the incident that occurred and still in a shocking situation.

“It’s okay. I’m still in shock now. But, I am trying to let it go,” said the victim in her remarks.

The victim felt “frozen” and cut off from her own emotion which resulted in her not being able to conduct her normal life as she usually did before the incident took place.

“I ran until the opposite end of the road and heading towards Mahallah Hafsah and when I looked back, I can see him peeping over to see me,” said the female student.

The flasher was also described as a local man by the victim.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Student Representative Council (SRC) Welfare Committee, Abdullah Mohd said they have informed the IIUM’s Office of Security Management (OSeM) about the incident and the office has assigned security guards to keep a watch on the Kuliyyah where the incident took place.

Sources from the OSeM, however, said there is still no official report been made by the victim. ***
