GOMBAK, 11 February 2016: The reshuffle of the Student Representative Council (SRC) 15/16 has been officially approved by the IIUM Rector, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Zaleha Kamaruddin, during their monthly meeting at the office of Rector, yesterday.

“The main purpose of SRC portfolio reshuffle is to strengthen the organisation of SRC itself. We want the SRC to be involved in every aspect of IIUM students. There are two major things that SRC needs to focus which are volunteerism and entrepreneurship. In addition, those major things are actually in line with the goals of the Ministry of Higher Education today,” said the President of SRC 15/16, Aiman Azahan.

Two new secretariats have been established; the Entrepreneurship Secretariat, with Zarif Zahari as the Chairperson, and a second new secretariat, Social and Responsibility, with Fahmi Kashfi as the Chairperson. Besides that, one secretariat has also been split into two secretariats which are Sports and Recreation Secretariat, with Fikri Nawawi as Chairperson, and Cultural and Art Secretariat, with Anwar Rahmat as Chairperson.

Meanwhile, “the International Affairs Secretariat has been renamed and rebranded as International Student Affairs to ensure that the secretariat focuses on their welfare.” said Aiman Azahan.

He also mentioned one of the important programmes of SRC for this semester, which will be held this March, known as IIUM Student Leaders Assembly (ISLA).

“If we manage to have ISLA formal sitting this March, IIUM will be the fourth public university to have a student parliament after USM, UKM and UMS. Furthermore, ISLA will be a new platform to have a collective voice among student leaders in bringing the issues to the top management of IIUM, ” said Aiman Azahan. ***
