MALAYSIANS are being coerced to dress in a certain way. Not conforming can now mean no entry to government buildings. What is most shocking is that the decision is left to minions intended to look after the security of these premises. Instead they are made to look at visitors attire and decide whether it is appropriate. Should they feel the outfit unsuitable, they can either assist by providing a sarong or, in the event of non-compliance, turn the person away. Not surprisingly the complainants are women in knee-length skirts deemed too short by the individual burdened with the decision. What irks those affected is the places involved: offices providing counter services to the public.
