GOMBAK, 29 April 2015: The younger generations are too wrapped up in social media and even abusing it causing a serious erosion of mutual respect and tolerance towards other religions.
All Malaysians of different faiths should unite and co-operate with one another in order to get mutual understanding between religions. The committee to promote understanding and harmony among religious adherents has been established in 2010 to assist the government in promoting understanding and harmony among religions in Malaysia and to continue the efforts in fostering relationship and maintaining peace and stability.
“Is Islam in Malaysia under threat? This is the most confusing question that occurred to me when someone asked me this question. This is the situation that we are living right now in clueless and very worrying for future generation,” said Dr. Maszlee Malik.
Dr. Hafiz Zakaria also explained the confusion arising from statement like “real historical view that none are narrative that contributes to the history.” He said Prof. Datuk Dr. Zainal Kling before this mentioned that Malay States have never been colonised. If Malay States had never been colonised, why do we need independence from the British?
“The Constitution can be viewed as semantic point of view and the country controlled by the British through treaties with Malay States that was officially enacted and signed between them,” he said.
“What happened underground was federated and un-federated Malay States in Pangkor Engagement for example, the Sultan needed to pay the salary of the people not the British resident. The British were very clever in diplomacy. They knew their intention and interest and ensure that what they did would benefit them,” he said.
In the context of law, Dr. Khairil Azmin said that the Constitution is actually the product of history itself because it is important for every state, like an identity card for the country. Malaysia differs from other states because it consists of people from various races that look like a struggling nation to coexist in peace and harmony.
“Something which is in writing actually had been made by the committee called Reid Commission. They were the ones who identified the highest judiciary land and we cannot reject the Constitution that has been implemented. This is the basic course of reference to create a constitution,” he explained.***
