GOMBAK, 13 March 2015: Students from Communication Department, old and new, gathered at the Female Sports Complex on Friday for a Mentor-Mentee programme in an attempt to enhance students-lecturers relationship and bonding on both sides.
The event was organised with cooperation of the students’ body, Communication Students Association or COSA. The event started at 8.30 a.m and ended at 1.00 p.m. Most of the Communication lecturers were there to support the event.
This event was made compulsory to be attended by all Communication students. A fee of RM25 was collected from those who attended the event to provide them with breakfast and refreshment. The fee also included a stylish COSA T- shirt that students were required to wear during the event. These shirts would also be useful for other events organised by COSA in the future.
Students were required to wear sports attire for the day.
The programme started with the registration of students as they gathered in the hall. They were also divided into groups based on their mentors. The ice-breaking session was the first activity of the event. Later, students participated in an explore-race game conducted around the Female Sports Complex. There were ten checkpoints that needed to be completed and winners were based on the group that finished early.
œIt was a success and was a substantial step in improving the bonding between the mentors and their respective mentees in the Communication Department, said the advisor for COSA, Dr. Tengku Siti Aisha Binti Tengku Azzman.
Programme manager, Fauzan Hamidi, said the event was held to gather students and lecturers for them to get to know one another better and also to strengthen relationship between all communications students in campus.
‘This way, we will not be seeing any stranger in our department. Also since the event will involve many physical activities, COSA hopes students will be made fitter and healthy as a result of this event.”
Fauzan added that this event was conducted in the spirit of Khairy Jamaluddins vision of a #FitMalaysia.
“We managed to catch up with participants of the event,” Najmi Jamal expressed her excitement in taking part of the event. She said. “I believe COSA will achieve its objectives.”
She also hoped that this event would outdo last years show.***
