GOMBAK, 25 February 2015:  The three-day Humanitarian Expo 4.0 was recently held at IIUM Business Centre, from 9.00 a.m to 5.00 p.m. Organised by the Centre for University Social Responsibility (CENSERVE)’s management team, the event was held with the objective to create awareness amongst students to participate in community services.

One of the committee members, Zainal Abid, believed that this event would create awareness among students to help those who are in need and to produce responsible youth.

There are 15 clubs under CENSERVE. Among those clubs, the most eye catching and famous one is STEADFAST. These clubs were divided into three divisions based on their nature, mentoring, facilitating and outreach.

The first activity was to introduce their booths and to explain the details about their clubs. This was followed by the clubs’ presidents presenting the vision and mission of their respective clubs.  The third activity was the presentation on the “unsung heroes”, followed by Q and A session held by each president of the club to provide additional information about their clubs. The last activity of the day was the registration of those who were interested to join the clubs.

The Expo was exciting where each club has its own unique way to attract the interest  of student to join the clubs. One of clubs used the busking technique to introduce the club. The clubs’ presidents were spontaneous with the public. Th expo also made available the photo booth for those who wanted to snap pictures with friends or make profile picture for Facebook.

One of the students, Mohd Sabri bin Salleh said: “The event was great, I finally got to see all the community service clubs and the people were very friendly. I’m looking forward for similar event next year.” This was one of the positive comments on the Expo.

CENSERVE had focused attention on its activities and programmes to create a positive impact on the public by getting appropriate media coverage.
