GOMBAK, 30 November 2014: Not only the performance of the artists that had brought in the cancer awareness concert, but also the sharing of experiences by cancer patients, have touched the audiences heart where the concert was held at the Cultural Activity Centre, IIUM.

The cancer charity concert was organised by the Economics and Management Science Society (EMSS) in collaboration with the Cancer Foundation of Malaysia (CFM) in a programme called Voices of Hope.

With the theme œA Rhythm that Heals the Heart the cancer awareness concert brought to IIUM local artists such as UNIC,  Rosman Md. Noor, Tonawarna, 6ixth Sense, OAG, and special performance by Razman who blended with the special talent.

The concert started with dua, followed by gimmick as the symbolic of the opening ceremony by Dr. Siti Alawiyah Siraj (Acedemic Advisor of EMSS). As mentioned by the MC, the logo of Voices of Hope means hope and support for the cancer patients to become survivors.

The concert organised by EMSS in collaboration with CFM not only brought the entertainment to the audiences, but standing on the main objective of the event, which is to give awareness to the students towards peoples suffering from cancer, can be seen as a huge success. The concert shared many inputs to enhance the awareness on the cancer disease among the audiences who attended the concert.

The Voices of Hope also wished to instil the morale of giving in the heart of every Muslim, to create the sense of understanding and empathy in peoples hearts and to convey the supports as students to those cancer sufferers.

œWe manage to do this programme to create awareness, especially to students who are considered youths on cancer disease in their time as students, and to instil the awareness until they have finished their study, Mohamad Royzilee Mustaffa, CFM’s founder said.

On that occasion, he himself, as a survivor of the brain cancer, expressed gratitude and thankful to those who came and support the programme.

œThanks to those who come and support this programme and IIUM is the seventh university chosen by CFM for cancer awareness concert. Uniten Bangi will be the eight university. People can visit our official website at www.kanser.my for donation and be a part of our NGO, he added.

The interesting part in the concert was the shared experiences by the cancer patients who are Nani and Razman include Encik Royzilee himself. Nani is a survivor of bone cancer. She is a strong woman, and she survived from her cancer because of the spirit that she wanted to accomplish her ambition to become a teacher besides she got the best support from her family.

The sharing session by Razman had inspired the audiences to stay strong and tawakal to Allah if tested. Razman is the disability person and he cannot see the world since birth (he got eyes cancer), but he is still optimistic in his life.

The closing ceremony of the concert saw photography sessions with the artists and VIPs by the CFM.

œAlhamdulillah, I think our first attempt of Voices of Hope has achieved its objectives. Although we dont perceive that enough audience, I am truly happy that this whole event went well,” programme manager, Muhammad Fawzy Afdza Hisham said.

“We desire to deliver as well as to create an early awareness about cancer especially among the youths. We have received positive reactions from all celebrities. I would like to express my full gratitude to all my committees, he added.
