CONVEST14 “Humanity Night” brings good meaning

GOMBAK, 20 October 2014: The “Humanity Night” which marked the end of the 30th IIUM Convocation Fiesta (CONVEST14) had brought real meaningful programme to IIUM students.

The event saw the night where audiences listened to the views on current issues in Palestine and Syria by famous figures like Heliza Helmi, Dato’ Dr. Musa Hassan, Hilal Azmi and Shahrir, while being entertained by various artists such as Hafiz Hamidun, Imran Ajmain, Akim and The Magistrate Band, Lah Ahmad, and Azlan And The Typewriter.

Held at the Main Hall, Cultural Activity Centre recently, COVEST14  featured eight programmes which included Sweet & Pastry Fair, Megafestival, Ahmad Ibrahim Theatre, Contemporary Youth Talk, National Student Conference, Seminar Penulisan Nusantara (Serumpun), Battle Of The Fearless, and Humanity Night.

“Humanity Night” was intended to raise awareness of what’s happening in other Muslim countries such as Palestine and Syria and at the same time to raise funds in aid of our Muslim friends in other countries.

The event was attended by Deputy Rector (Student Affairs), Datuk Dr. Mizan bin Hitam, who delivered his closing remarks. Throughout the event, the audiences were also entertained by some flash mobs planned by the IIUM students to portray the happenings in Palestine and Syria.

“It was a great event, it touched my heart listening to Heliza who shared his experience during his visit to Palestine to help the Palestinians in need,” said Rahmah Azmi. ****
