BEING halfway between Malaysias two big festivities of nationhood seemed like an opportune moment to visit the original nerve centre of all this activity. The Tunku Abdul Rahman Memorial is one of the great consolations of KL. It is even more enjoyable when empty, allowing time for reflection on the momentous times the first Prime Minister was in office. It is usually quiet, and to my surprise was just as serene on Merdeka Monday.
