KUALA LUMPUR, 14 August 2014: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and the Princess of Naradhiwas University (PNU) was signed today aimed at strengthening the academic and social development programmes involving the two universities.

IIUM Deputy Rector for International, Industry and Community Relations, Prof. Dr. Abdel Aziz Berghout signed on behalf of the university, while PNU was represented by its President, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chongrak Palasai.

The MoU between the two universities also paved the way for mutual cooperation through various collaborations, which would involve short semester training for the academic staff and students, students’ exchange, and student’s activities for five years term starting this year.

Apart from that, around 900 students of IIUM are targeted to go globally through other MoUs by the end of this year and 40 students will be attending short semester at PNU respectively through student exchange programmes, Prof. Dr. Abdel Aziz Berghout said.

He said this mutual cooperation will give plenty of advantages to students which include student exchange, credit transfer and cultural visit. Eventually, students may develop more skills, gain in knowledge and learn new experiences throughout the programmes.

“This is a big number for us because two years before we had around 200 students, last year 600 students, and now we are moving forward, may be two or three years we can send 2,000 students through this programme,” Abdul Aziz Berghout told BERNAMA.
