GOMBAK, 23 April 2023: The Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held by the IIUM Student Union (IIUMSU) with presentations on the programme and financial reports throughout their tenure that ran from May 2022 to April 2023. The meeting was held in the Main Auditorium of Kulliyyah of Engineering, IIUM Gombak and broadcasted live on the official IIUMSU Facebook page on Saturday, 15 April 2023.
The President of IIUMSU, Aliff Naif bin Mohd Fizam made his opening speech by emphasizing on the importance of the Quranic verse from Surah Hud (11:88) to the organization ever since its inception. The verse is translated as, “He said, “O my people! Consider if I stand on a clear proof from my Lord and He has blessed me with a good provision from Him. I do not want to do what I am forbidding you from. I only intend reform to the best of my ability. My success comes only through Allah. In Him I trust and to Him I turn.”
“IIUMSU aimed to make changes not only to our own community but changes to the lives of those outside our community,” said Aliff.
The Secretary General of IIUMSU, Nazifah binti Ibrahim, reported on the Union’s programmes throughout the tenure, spoke on its vision and mission, the 20 goals of IIUMSU and all programmes organized by all offices of the organization.
Next, the financial report was presented by the Treasurer of IIUMSU, Hairil Aflan bin Mohammed Zamri. He presented on the total income of IIUMSU as well as the total expenses in each year.
The total income of the year 2022 was RM109,124 while in 2023, it was RM109,105, with the highest income coming from sponsorships. The total expenses for 2022 was RM92,746 and in 2023 it was RM49,106. He explained that the highest expense was for the election.
During the meeting, the nominations for Honorary Auditor were made with the Treasurer explaining the requirements for the position, the job scope for the position and information of the candidates.
The IIUMSU Constitution amendments were also endorsed in the AGM with members given the opportunity to ask questions during the Q&A session. The recording of the AGM can still be viewed on the page: IIUM Student Union | Facebook ***
