GOMBAK, 6 December 2022: The newly appointed Religious Affairs Minister, YAA Prof. Adjung Dato’ Setia Dr. Hj. Mohd Na’im bin Haji Mokhtar attended the third session of the 38th IIUM Convocation Ceremony on 4 December to witness the graduation of his son, Usamah bin Mohd Na’im.
Usamah officially graduated from the Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws (AIKOL) with Bachelor in Laws (LLB) and is currently in his final year of Bachelor of Laws (Shariah).
Also acknowledged in his presence, the IIUM Rector, Prof. Emeritus Tan Sri Dato’ Dzulkifli bin Abdul Razak, expressed heartfelt congratulations to the Minister on his appointment as the Religious Affairs Minister.
“We are fully confident that you will bring more pride to this university and this whole Country,” the IIUM Rector said.
YAA Prof. Adjung Dato’ Setia Dr. Hj. Mohd Na’im bin Haji Mokhtar was recently appointed as the Minister of Religious Affairs in the Cabinet led by Dato’ Sri Anwar Ibrahim. It was learned that he is the very first Syariah Chief Judge to hold the said position.
The Minister, who has an outstanding educational background, is known for his prominent character in the legal fraternity. As an alumnus of AIKOL, he is also currently teaching the students of the Diploma in Shariah and Legal Practice (DSLP).
He received his master’s law degree from the University of London and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Syariah from the University of Malaya.
YAA Prof. Adjung Dato’ Setia Dr. Hj. Mohd Na’im bin Haji Mokhtar was also internationally recognised as a visiting fellow of the notorious Harvard Law School. ***
