GOMBAK, 4 June 2022: Five student officer cadets from the Civil Defence Club IIUM were promoted to higher rankings during the œKor Siswa Siswi Pertahanan Awam (KOR SISPA) IIUM 2021/2022 appointment ceremony held at the Senate Hall on Friday (3 June).
The entity which was established at IIUM with 44 cadets in 2016 celebrated its fourth platoon to commemorate the new members of the mainboard as well as to welcome a total of 19 new student cadets of platoon six.
At this years annual event the five student officer cadets who received epaulettes and certifications for their rank promotions are:
1. Officer Cadet Nur Hidayah Binti Basri promoted to Senior Officer Cadet
2. Officer Cadet Ain Nur Farhana Binti Zakaria promoted to Senior Officer Cadet
3. Officer Cadet Muhammad Ariff Asyraf Bin Suhaimi promoted to Head of Platoon 4
4. Officer Cadet Muhammad Noor Aiman Bin Zailan promoted to Head of Platoon 5
5. Officer Cadet Muhammad Zharif Bin Abdul Rahman promoted to Head of Platoon 6
A total of eight honorary guests were present at the event which included four staff members of IIUM, such as, Honoured Assistant Commissioner, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Faris Ismail (Deputy Rector of Academic & Internalisation), Honoured Hon. Major (CD) Roestam Effendi B. Sijar, Ketua, (Sport Development Centre), Honoured Hon. Captain (CD) Hjh. Nurul ˜Ain Bt. Mohamed Noor, (Senior Assistant Director of Student Affairs and Development Division), Tuan Wan Rizaila Bin Wan Mamat Saufi, (Head of Uniform Bodies Unit) from Office of the Deputy Rector (Student Development and Community).
Alongside them were civil defence officers of the government office, Lieutenant Lt. (CD) Irwan Syah Bin Khairi Yap, Lieutenant Lt. (CD) Mohd Khairul Azri Bin Ab Razak, Lieutenant (CD) Haliza Binti Hamid and Young Officer, Muhammad ˜ Ainul Fakhrullah bin Mokhzan.
In the opening speech for the ceremony, Commander for KOR SISPA IIUM, Honoured Assistant Commissioner, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Faris Ismail, who is Deputy Rector of Academic & Internalisation, expressed his gratitude and excitement for the ceremony as it was his first time delivering a face-to-face speech to the cadets since his appointment as commander carried out during the movement control order.
Furthermore, he expressed the hope that the IIUM Civil Defence Club, which was created to provide a platform for students to develop great leadership and soft skills which includes thinking and humanistic abilities as in line with the Sejahtera academic framework, would continue to support each other as a team, by fostering stronger connections and engagements with each other as well as Angkatan Pertahanan Awam Malaysia (APM) Sentul for the betterment of the society.
As it was a challenge to meet face-to-face during the recent pandemic, Commander Prof. Dr. Ahmad Faris took the time to personally thank and congratulate the 13 students who aided the Office of Security Management (OSeM) on the morning of 1 April 2020 by assisting in controlling the situation in IIUM due to the spread of COVID-19.
KOR SISPA IIUM have been selected as the host for next years Majlis Pertaulian which would foresee the participation of over 20 public universities nationwide.***
