GOMBAK, 10 December 2021: Keeping up with the Election of AbdulHamid AbuSulayman Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences (AHAS KIRKHS), eight out of 17 seats for the Chairperson seat won uncontested, of which Abdul Muhaimin bin Khazain from the Department Arabic Language and Literature was one among the eight who secured the seat.
In an exclusive interview with IIUMToday, Muhaimin, a third-year student, shared his views on his manifestos as Chairperson of the Secretariat of the Arabic Language and Literature.
The manifestos declared by Muhaimin includes:
- To lead a thorough and comprehensive review of the current syllabus for BARB students and propose the necessary changes to the relevant authorities.
- To enhance and encourage effective collaborations between students and lecturers of DALL and ALA.
- To organise multiple leadership programs and training for the development of ALA future leaders.
“My friends and I think that we need to redevelop our academic syllabus while at the same time redefining the purpose of our course being introduced in IIUM,” he said.
Muhaimin also explained that effective cooperation between students and lecturers will give new insights about the knowledge learned in the course and he believes that academia needs strong leaders for the sake of the education field, social organisations, and the country at large.
On his goals, he shared: “My vision and mission are basically to integrate new opinions with the opinions that have existed in our university or society for a long time.”
Asked about his leadership experience, he said that he has been actively participating in Youth Business League IIUM, a society under Entrepreneurship Development Centre IIUM since his first year of study as he is passionate about business. He is also the current President of the club for this semester.
“A good leader is one who obeys Allah in whatever he is doing, looking for His mercy and acceptance, putting trust and dependence on Him.
Good leaders are also those who try to be good and I will try my best to give a good example,” Muhaimin said.
