GOMBAK, 30 November 2021: AbdulHamid AbuSulayman Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences (AHAS KIRKHS) held its deanery retreat on 27 and 28 November recently to renew the historical missions of the establishment of the Kulliyyah and to align its objectives with the global, regional, national and institutional directions.

At the same time, it was an effort to revitalise the Kulliyyah’s role and goals of becoming a relevant higher education provider, research centre, knowledge dissemination centre and workforce development centre.

To achieve its mission and vision, the Kulliyyah has taken the initiative to come up with a strategy known as the HEAVE Road Map. HEAVE refers to:

  1. Humanising Education
  2. Advancing Edification of Individuals
  3. Valorising Institutions
  4. Engaging Communities

The HEAVE Road Map acts as a guideline and reference in making sure that any activity or action plans made by the Kulliyyah include the elements of HEAVE.

Head of the Department of Communication, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zeti Azreen Ahmad believed this retreat has helped the Kulliyyah to do some reflections.

“The retreat allows members to reflect and learn from past activities, milestones and achievements, and to identify ways to improve performance. The retreat promoted the spirit of collegiality as ideas were solicited from all members to chart the direction of AHAS KIRKHS, ” Dr. Zeti said.

Meanwhile, Assist. Prof. Dr. Mohd Helmi Yusoh, the Kulliyyah’s Coordinator of Information and Communication Technology, shared his opinion on Kulliyyah’s up-branding.

He said: “This up-branding activity is imperative for the Kulliyyah in its effort to revive the historical vision and mission, at the same time to ensure its relevance in the present world in symbolising a healthy and progressive institution.”

Throughout the retreat, a holistic analysis on the Kulliyyah’s past performances, achievements as well as activities were carried out including discussions on improvements that could be made in the future.

Held at the UiTM’s Institute of Leadership and Development, Bandar Enstek, Nilai, the retreat was led by the Dean of the Kulliyyah, Prof. Dr. Shukran Abdul Rahman, and attended by all AHAS KIRKHS deanery members.***
