PETALING JAYA, 13 November 2021: Malaysia’s COVID-19 infectivity (R0) rate has recurred to 1.0, Health Director-General, Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said in his statement made through his official Twitter account.

According to him, the infectivity rate had increased again as the rate of daily case has yet to descend.

“This means the daily case rate is levelling off and our concern is if it spikes again,” he remarked.

Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham advised the public not to be complacent and to keep adhering to the standard operating procedure (SOP).

He also urged the vulnerable groups to get a booster dose once the appointment is set.

Malaysia’s COVID-19 infectivity (R0) rate stood at 0.99, with Putrajaya settled at the highest level of 1.06 as of yesterday.

Both Kuala Lumpur and Selangor recorded R0 levels of 1.03 whilst 1.01 for Kelantan.

Health Minister, Khairy Jamaluddin had earlier announced that 40 percent of those who are eligible for COVID-19 booster shots did not show up for their appointments.

“The hospitalisation cases will surely upsurge if the booster take-up is insufficient, especially among the elderly and those with comorbidities,” Khairy added.***
