“Keluarga Malaysia” pre-launch to help those affected by the pandemic

KUALA LUMPUR, 9 October 2021: Prime Minister, Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob pre-launched “Keluarga Malaysia”, an initiative by the Malaysian government to recover the country from the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The prelaunch which took place in Auditorium Perdana, Angkasapuri on 8 October at 4.00 p.m. began with a performance by various Malaysian races playing their traditional music instruments.

This was followed by the recitation of poetry titled “Citra Kita Keluarga Malaysia” by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lim Swee Tin, Fathil Hidayat Ghazali and Sangeeta Krishnasamy.

Before the speech and launching of the event by the Prime Minister, the Minister of communications and Multimedia gave his opening remarks.

The main idea of Keluarga Malaysia is to help Malaysians in need, regardless of their background. This is further emphasised in the Prime Minister’s speech which specifies the three aspects of Keluarga Malaysia are inclusivity, common ground and contentment.

The Prime Minister also answered the question on why the government wanted to instil family values to the nation. 

“Family institution always plays a role in preserving religion, safety, dignity and ensures that each member of the family is taken care of,” he said.

Speaking on the inclusivity of Keluarga Malaysia, the Prime Minister said that with the multicultural background of Malaysians, it is important that we work together in harmony to recover from the pandemic.

Regarding the aspect of common ground of Keluarga Malaysia, the Prime Minister stressed that strategies have taken place in order to provide programmes and initiatives for the people. 

As such, the Prime Minister stated the initiative of Keluarga Malaysia Squad handled by the Department of Social Welfare, under the ministry of Women, Family and Community Development.

The Prime Minister further explained about Keluarga Malaysia Squad which aims to coordinate all aid delivery for Malaysians under one roof. 

“As of today’s launching, 10 thousand personnels of Keluarga Malaysia Squad are ready to go to every corner of Malaysia to help those in need due to the pandemic,” he stressed. 

The Prime Minister also mentioned that the government will be introducing the mechanism of Key Happiness Outcome (KHO) which will complement the pre-existing  Key Performance Index (KPI) to ensure the product of Keluarga Malaysia manages to positively impact the people.

In his speech, the Prime Minister touched on the third aspect of Keluarga Malaysia which is contentment. 

“The feeling of contentment on the tolerance between the Malaysian society is part of the Keluarga Malaysia identity,” he stated.

The Prime Minister concluded his speech by reminding the audience the priority of the government which is to overcome the health and economic crisis by implementing the characteristics of inclusivity, common ground and contentment.

The event continued with a gimmick which symbolises the handover of the vest that Keluarga Malaysia Squad personnels wear and resume with the release of the Keluarga Malaysia Squad. 

The event ended with a song titled “Keluarga Malaysia” performed by Malaysian artists.
