“We Are With You” Palestine forum attracts good crowd

GOMBAK, 21 May 2021: œJustice, freedom and the right to live has no religion and has no home address. It belongs to everyone, IIUM President, Datuk Dr. Mohd Daud Bakar said in his welcoming remarks for the “Palestine We Are With You” Forum that was held on Wednesday (19 May) night.

Due to the conflict that is currently happening in Palestine, IIUM Alumni Relations Division held a forum entitled œPalestine We Are With You in collaboration with IIUM Students Union and Global Peace Mission Malaysia.

Four panelists were invited to the forum to discuss current issues. They were Amal Erheem, IIUM postgraduate student, Abu Ayesh as representative from Muslim Care Malaysia Palestine, Ahmad Fahmi, the CEO of Global Peace Mission Malaysia and Farrah Adeeba, Aman Palestin Ambassador.

After the welcoming remarks, the session continued with a speech video from IIUM postgraduate student Amal Erhem, who is currently in Gaza. In the video, she shared on the current situation around her and showed some video shots of bomb attacks in Gaza, and forum participants could hear the sound of bombing happening beside her house while she was recording her speech video.

Following that, Abu Ayesh, the representative of Muslim Care Malaysia Palestine, in his speech had praised and thanked Malaysians for their full support to Palestine. He urged the audiences to donate as he said œwe donate our blood, you donate your money”.

“Without donations from you and other people of the world, we wouldnt have survived,” he said. “And if there is one more country like Malaysia, Palestine can be freed.

As he was talking, there were missiles launched outside his house.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Fahmi, who is the CEO of Global Peace Mission Malaysia, stressed on the attacks and criticisms through the mass media which, he said, are also very important, and could give a big impact to the Zionist mentally.

In addition, Farrah Adeeba, an activist from Aman Palestin stated that apart from genocide, the Zionist also used psychological warfare tactic that instilled in the mind of the Palestinians that nobody cares about them and that they are alone in this war. One of the strategies is to bomb the Palestinians during the night to spread fear among them.

The session continued with a speech by Deputy Rector, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zulkifli Hasan, and ended with a do’a recitation by Director of CENTRIS, Prof. Dr. Akmal Khuzairy,

The programme had drawn more than 300 people who watched this forum during online streaming on YouTube. Currently, the number of viewers on the YouTube programme is more than 4,800. ***
