IIUMSU Election: License to make changes in KICT

By Sarah Rashdi

GOMBAK, 8 April 2021: The Kulliyyah of Information and Communication Technology (KICT) presented their candidate for IIUMSU Student Union in a forum held on Monday (5 April) to provide him with an opportunity to convince voters of his manifesto.

Muhammad Nur Firdaus, a third year student, aims to bring changes to the IIUM community especially for the KICT students.

He believes that a powerless hero makes little impact. Hence, he said, a license is necessary to give him the power he needed to make changes and turn his dream into reality.

Firdaus plans to provide a better and conducive environment in KICT as a form of support and motivation for the students to increase their performance in their studies. He wants to equip them with better facility.

He also dreams of establishing a cyber security team mainly for competition to enhance the cybersecurity skills of KICT students. And he wants to have a specific team with a proper training and a particular team name.

The KICT students deserve a better career. Hence, Muhammad Nur Firdaus wants to allow more industrial opportunity for KICT students by implementing a career day and give a wide exposure to the industries to ease the students in finding future employees.

Hope for students’ voice

Managing his time between study and society would force him to prudently organise his tight schedule. Regardless, Nur Firdaus revealed a promising future for KICT through his willingness to burden his small body with heavy responsibility.

“Of course, studies shall come first, followed by participation in societies. But I believe in my ability to carry the responsibility and acknowledging my own limit. Despite the hardship, it is beyond worth.”

He wishes to enhance communication between the management and the students by increasing the engagement with them in order to raise their voice.

“The legacy of the previous tenure shall not be neglected and I wish to continue and provide solution for every problem faced by the students.”

Nur Firdaus further said, “Regardless of the position in IIUMSU Office, I wish to execute the manifesto in any possible way within my own capability,” he added.

Organised by ICT Student’s Society IIUM (ICTSS), the forum was conducted through ICTSS Facebook page. It was moderated by Irfan Danial from KICT. ***
