GOMBAK, 28 March 2021: As the election of the IIUM Student Union (IIUMSU) will be taking place soon on 9 April 2021, the IIUMSU Election Commission has come up with guidelines for both eligible candidates and voters.
A new digital voting system, iTasweet, has been introduced and will be used for the first time during this election to assist students in electing their representatives due to limitations faced following the COVID-19 pandemic.
All eligible voters will have to prepare themselves to cast their votes using the e-voting system, iTasweet.
IIUMSU Election Commission has issued the following guidelines to enable students who are interested to serve their constituencies as student representatives. They may register as candidates based on the following guidelines:
- Visit iTasweet website
- Click on “Request Nomination Form”
- Enter matric number & click “Request Nomination”
- Open student email (…@live.iium.edu.my)
- Open email from noreply@itasweet.com
- Click on the link in the email to be directed to the nomination form
- Fill in candidate information
- Upload Academic Transcript, COCU Transcript & Photo of Candidate (passport size)
- Click “Next” & fill in background information
- Click “Next” & enter matric number of Proposer and Seconder
- Click “Validate”
- Review candidate information
- Click “Submit Form”
- Wait for approval from Election Committee
The Election Commission has also prepared guidelines for eligible voters as follows:
- Visit iTasweet website
- Click on “Request Ballot”
- Enter matric number
- Click “Request Ballot”
- Open IIUM email (…@live.iium.edu.my)
- Open email by noreply@itasweet.com
- Click on confidential link to be directed to polling page
- Choose a contested chair to vote
- Click on the button to choose candidate of choice
- Click “Submit”
