GOMBAK, 23 December 2020: The Ministry of Health today announced 1,348 new COVID-19 cases of infections with five new deaths in the past 24 hours bringing the total deaths to 444.
According to Health Ministry, Selangor continues to lead for the eighth consecutive day with 535 cases. This was followed by Kuala Lumpur (226), Sabah (189), Melaka (124), and Johor (118).
Other states recorded below 100 cases.
Pahang recorded 45 new cases, followed by Pulau Pinang (43), Kedah (14), Perak (8). Putrajaya, Kelantan, Sarawak with 4 new cases in each state and Labuan with two cases.
However, there were no cases reported in Perlis.
From all the cases reported today, a total of 193 infections were related to lock-ups, prisons and immigration detention centres with 123 cases recorded in the Jalan Harapan Prison cluster, Tembok Gajah cluster (56), Kolam Air cluster (8), and Hala Mutiara cluster (1).
The 1,348 cases recorded today has brought the total number of infections in the country to 97,737 with 18,279 active cases since early this year. ***
