KUALA LUMPUR, 31 August 2020: In conjunction with Malaysia’s 63rd National Day celebration, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin continued the legacy of the late Tunku Abdul Rahman when he was announcing Malaysias Independence 63 years ago.
Recalling the historical moment, the Prime Minister stood at the same place while delivering the 63rd National Day message which was broadcast on Sunday (30 August).
œI am standing here today, at a very historical place. 63 years ago, this is where the late Tunku Abdul Rahman, Malaysias first Prime Minister, declared the proclamation of Independence of œTanah Melayu.
œOn 31st August 1957, at this historical place, the late Tunku was witnessed by thousands of people from various races and religions declared the Federation of Malaya,” he said.
At the same time, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin also quoted Tunku Abdul Rahmans speech during the declaration of Independence in 1957.
œWith the abundance of grace from Allah, this country will remain independent and sovereign democracy based on freedom and justice, protect and prioritise the welfare and the well-being of its people and maintain peace among all races.”
