GOMBAK, 11 August 2020: The International Institute for Halal Research and Training (INHART) and the IIUM Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance (IIiBF) are considered as a ‘striker’ in a football game due to their specialisations and their specific targets as compared to the kulliyyah, Prof. Emeritus Tan Sri Dato’ Dzulkifli Abdul Razak said during his session with INHART and IIiBF, here today.
The Rector suggested for both the entities to work together to provide training to the kulliyyahs in order to expand their expertises.
“I think the strategy of working together is very important. Both of the entities in my opinion have got reasons to why they exist and these reasons need to be maintained.”
“INHART focuses on the importance of Halal but now we are moving forward to ‘toyyiban’, and we talk about something else because the area is expanding and we need to take them on board. Just like what IIiBF did with the microcredit, which is important, but should not limit to certain section of preparation,” he added.
According to the Dean of INHART, Prof. Dr. Hamzah Mohd Salleh, the institute is now modifying their flagship project called ‘Shariah Compliant on Productive Work Culture’. He said the Rector is looking forward to the project with a little modification on its name.
“The name that was proposed by the Rector is ‘Shariah Compliant Matrix for Humanising Productivity’. This project will be evaluating eight categories for the Islamic Higher Education Institution including IIUM”
“We have embarked on this project because we want to see how and where Islamic universities like IIUM stands, we are not referring to any benchmarking, rather we just want to know where we are so we can improve to the next level,” he added.
Meanwhile, according to the Dean of IIiBF, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Salina Kassim, the institute are now bidding for the Higher Institution Centre of Excellence (HICoE) which they had just submitted last week carrying the area on Islamic Social Finance.
“We would like to see the role of Islamic Social Finance in financing various social activities in health and education sectors as well as in women empowerment.”
“All these are under the purview of Islamic Social Finance so in Islamic Finance there are various possibilities that we can put forward in financing these social sectors,” she added.***
