GOMBAK, 4 August 2020: The Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences (KIRKHS) is an essential kulliyyah in IIUM for it shapes the university by integrating the human sciences and the Islamic revealed knowledge which are the fundamental principles of the university.

Prof. Emeritus Tan Sri Dato’ Dzulkifli Abdul Razak made this remarks today in his tour of the Kulliyyah as part of IIUM Rector’s Strategic Tour.

He commented: “We are the only university that talks about relation between human sciences and Islamic revealed knowledge in a way to receive barakah in life.

“KIRKHS, therefore, needs to think of what to present to the world in the context of which the university is concerned about and of which the kulliyyah can be proud of.”

He further stressed, “KIRKHS must exist to support all kulliyyahs and as a symbol of how successful the university is.”

According to the Rector, the year 2020 is essential for IIUM to set a higher expectation as a well-known institution through its progression towards a sustainable development university.

Meanwhile, according to the Dean of KIRKHS, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Shukran Abd. Rahman, the SDG requires application of science and technology, which are not the Kulliyyah’s forte. “The Kulliyyah, however, will focus on human centric and Islamic values in attaining the balance of the residents.”

“To change the society, to develop the society or to improve on the society, we also need to apply behavioural sciences and values which are the core businesses of this Kulliyyah.”

“I can see how this Kulliyyah can function and contribute to our SDG agenda through application of behavioural sciences principles and knowledge, plus implementing Islamic revealed knowledge principles to change and develop the society as expected by the SDG in that sense,” he added. ***
