Malaysian astronaut shares true meaning of humbleness as a delivery boy

Malaysian astronaut Dr. Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor showed Malaysians the true meaning of humbleness when he uploaded a photo of himself as a food rider during this movement control (MCO) period.

Dr. Sheikh Muszaphar revealed that he is one of the co-owners of Rebung, an esteemed restaurant in Kuala Lumpur that specialises in authentic Malay food and has been delivering food to customers since mid-April.

The restaurant, Rebung, is an esteemed 17-year-old establishment in Kuala Lumpur that specialises in authentic Negeri Sembilan Malay food.

Co-owned with famous Chef Ismail, Dr. Sheikh Muszaphar has overseen Rebung’s rise to become a culinary giant, with 80 employees and a buffet of awards.

He reminisces back on the days when the restaurant just starting out, saying œI remember going to Pasar Borong Selayang at 4 a.m during those days, buying fresh seafood everyday for the first six months during our start up.”

I remember sending lemang, rendang, and dodol in the wee hours of Raya morning for the past two years. Those were the days.

Dr. Sheikh Muszaphar, who is an orthopaedic surgeon by training, explained that since the restaurant reopened, he decided to personally deliver food to customers.

In the photo he uploaded dated in 22 April, he also shared, œWe (reopened) again last week during this MCO and I personally put my feet on the ground to deliver food. It’s the best.

Many netizens were impressed by the astronaut’s humility.

One Twitter user wrote: “He’s been my idol since I was a kid. Now he’s also a delivery man. Nice one, boss. He’s truly a humble person.”

“He’s not picky about work. Even though he could just stay at home the whole day, he decided to participate. Good job to our astronaut,” said another netizen.

Another person commented, “Isn’t he so humble? I love reading the captions on his posts. Sometimes I feel so motivated after stalking his Instagram. An idol.”

Dr. Sheikh Muszaphar became the first Malaysian to reach space on board the Soyuz TMA-11 launched to the International Space Station in October 2007.***
